About planetWeek 4

yesterday we learned about planets and space. our planet earth orbits around the sun like Mercury and mars and the other planets. All of the planets orbits around the sun and rotates. Did you know the sun is 15,000 degrees celsius and the sun is a giant star made of hydrogen gas. And did you know the Earth takes 1 year to orbit the sun. For Earth that takes 365 days. Mercury takes 88 Earth days and Venus takes 225 Earth days. Mars takes 687 Earth days and Jupiter has 4,333 Earth days.

Robby’s Awa Story

Awa Trip

On Tuesday 1st of April Miss Ashley said come on the mat to do the roll. After the roll we split into year 5 and year 6. The year 5’s were with Miss Mel and the year 6’s were with Mrs Pondicherry. Some people had stuff to carry like the morning tea or a chair for Miss Ashley.

Our first one was the lady next to the Fale. First we used the big clear tube and we had to see if we could see the black magnet inside. After that we did the test for oxygenation which was this tiny blue tube and we had to see what number it was. It was 6.5. Finally we did the creatures. There was containers with dirty water inside and we had to fetch the creatures using a plastic spoon.

Our second activity was picking up rubbish with Miss Asinate. My group was Arai, Jacob and Lucas. We found two license plates, two tennis balls and some plastic. When we were picking up rubbish Mrs Pondicherry said “we are going to the Mara Houpara”.

We walked there to the mara houpara, then we sat down and we had Mr Crowe said about the leaves. First we did parkour then we climbed up and we went on another log again. The last one we went up really high but everybody was safe.

Our lucky last activity was going to do the scooters with Mr To’oala. He told us to sit down and he was talking about safety so like when you fall down go to the side not the front. Mr To’oala sent us off to do the scooters. Finally Mr To’oala said we have to go back to our classroom so Mrs Pondicherry said we are going back to mara houpara. Then we wrote on leaves about what teacher or person we miss that has passed away or we missed them.

After we drawed that Mrs Pondicherry told us to go to the bridge and drop the leaves in the river. After that we went back to school. This trip was fun and boring at the same time.

When we went back to school Miss told us to write about the awa trip.

our adventure

last week our class went on an incredible adventure to Tui Ridge Camp. From the moment  we arrived I could tell this would be a camp I’d never  forget. The sun was shining the air was fresh and everyone was buzzing with excitement. Little did I know that some of the best and scariest moments of my life were waiting for me.

One of my absolute favourite highlight was the flying fox

hand writing Wednesday

peter picked a purple plum from the top of the tree “please pass the picnic basket,” he said placing the plum inside. Polly, his pet parrot, perched on his shoulder and practiced saying, “perfect plum pie!” Nearby, Paul played with a pink puppy named Pip. They had a peaceful afternoon, watching clouds drift pass as Polly kept repeating “peter’s picnic is the best!”

on monday the whole class did an experiment. it was called, cabbage liquid first we got into groups of 3’s then we got one papper and we got 3 cups and then we pored the cabbage juice into the cups.

one sunny day

the sun began to set casting a warm light on the quiet village. children played in the street their laughter echoing as they tired to catch the fleeting moments of joy. a gentle breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers inviting everyone to take a moment to sit and enjoy the beauty around them. it felt like a perfect day to reflect and appreciate the simple things in life reminding us that happiness can often be found in the little bits of everyone.
